Update

Hi again to all,

Just returned from visiting with Mrs Reed and found her about the same
as last evening (was there about 6pm).

She has been moved back to the 10th floor (rm 1043) which is good. She
was alert today, seeming to know me and eyes opened for most of our
visit. She did not speak today – though she did last evening. It could
be her throat is sore from all the tubes, etc. I asked if they had given
her anything by mouth as yet and she indicated “no.” I do think they
will be starting soon, though, as there was a can of nutrition drink
stuff there on her cart.

Anyway, that is about it for Mrs Reed.

Just got a quick message that Wiebes are taking Julia for a EKG. They
are exploring every avenue for answers about her seizures, etc. I am
sure they would appreciate your prayers. BTW – I believe today is their
anniversary.

Annie Reed Update

Hi to all…

I visited Mrs Reed yesterday and again today. I did not post yesterday because I wanted to see how she was today.

She was moved upstairs yesterday just after noon – that’s the good news.

However, she was unresponsive yesterday – I could not get her to recognize me or respond. Today, she was better, she seemed to know who I was and did talk about getting out of hospital. However, she is very confused right now. I did talk to her about her “head” being a bit fuzzy from all the medication, etc. and she nodded the affirmative. She also had coverings on her hands – she evidently pulled some of her tubes out (though they are decreasing in number each day.)

I spoke with her nurse and she said that it is common (not normal) for seniors to go through this confusion. Obviously, this concerns us all as we know Annie to be “sharp as a tack.”

So what is next? Those who are local, please refrain from visiting as of yet – she doesn’t need the strain of trying to recognize and speak right now. For all of us – pray! Pray for strength in her body (that seems to be improving) and pray for her confusion to clear away. Thanks for your understanding and ongoing love for Mrs Reed.
